An international team of arXiv scientists, which includes NASA specialists, has published a scenario for protection with nuclear weapons from the asteroid 2024 YR4. This work was published on the team's website.

"Kinetic sustainable destruction missions are available with launches between April 2030 and April 2032. Nuclear destruction missions are also available, which will be launched between the end of 2029 and the end of 2031," the material says.

The team of scientists claims that the probability of an asteroid colliding with Earth in December 2032 is 3%, and with the Moon in August — up to 4%. It is specified that the first option to avoid a collision is to change the orbit of the asteroid, and the second is to destroy the space body using nuclear weapons.

The final decision on the asteroid will be made at the end of 2028, after it approaches the Earth.
