The mascots of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, Canada and the USA, will be Maple the moose, Zayu the jaguar and Klatch the eagle. This was announced on September 25 by the press service of the International Football Federation (FIFA).

"Maple the moose, Zayu the jaguar and Klatch the bald eagle will represent the host countries — Canada, Mexico and the USA respectively," the publication says.

As the president of the federation, Gianni Infantino, noted, the mascots are full of "joy, energy and a spirit of unity," just like the upcoming World Cup.

Earlier, on September 10, it was reported that Argentina national football team striker Lionel Messi won the title of top scorer of the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup for the first time in his career. According to the sports statistics company Opta, the 38-year-old striker got the title after he retained the lead in the list of scorers, scoring eight goals in 12 matches.
