On September 25, Rosatom State Corporation, which participates in the World Atomic Week (WAW – 2025) international forum, signed a document on the elaboration of a project for the construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) with Ethiopia.

Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Rosatom, and his colleague, Ashabir Balcha, head of the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, took part in the signing of the action plan for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Republic.

"The action plan provides for the creation of a specialized working group for a detailed study of the NPP construction project, the preparation of a roadmap with access to a feasibility study, as well as the signing of an intergovernmental agreement," the Rosatom press service said in a statement posted on the organization's website.

According to Likhachev, whose comment is given in the text, the Russian Federation and Ethiopia, which will be assisted in creating a "reliable and clean" energy source, have good partnerships.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, meeting with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on the same day, stressed that Moscow's interstate and diplomatic relations with the republic began back in 1898. He also added that this union is developing steadily, and also paid special attention to the development of communication in the humanitarian sphere.
