The band "25/17" recorded the song "Volya" about Stepan Razin

The musical group "25/17" took part in the second part of the musical collection by writer Zakhar Prilepin "There is a Cliff on the Volga", recording the song "Volya" dedicated to Stepan Razin for the album.

"Zakhar Prilepin, the author of the novel about Stepan Razin "Tuma", invited us to participate in the second part of the collection "There is a cliff on the Volga", dedicated to the main character of his book. I hadn't read the book yet," said one of the band's leaders, musician Andrey Pozdnukhov ("Pale").

According to him, the song about the historical character was formed during the band's tour in Tula, when it was the feast of the Holy Trinity. Pozdnukhov visited the temple, and then returned to the room, brewed tea and wrote a song.

"Stepan Razin is not just a historical character, he is an archetype, a folk hero, a myth, a legend. This is atheism as a search for God, this is the search for truth, this is the thirst for justice of the common man," said the performer.

After returning to Moscow, the band began work on recording the song. The second member of the band, Anton Zavyalov ("Antom") presented the song in the form of "convict trip-hop". The musicians also invited folk singer Varvara Kotova to participate in the creation of the work, who decorated the song with her vocals. Pozdnukhov added that he likes the name of the composition "Volya" for its variety of meanings.

"This is freedom, inner strength, aspiration, and the ability to choose — that's what our song is about. And then I read the book, I really liked the book," said the musician.

Before that, on September 12, the musicians of the band "After 11" told Izvestia about their participation in the recording of the tribute album "Lube 35. It's starting again...", for which they made their own version of the song "You carry me, river". The band's guitarist Nikolai Feoktistov noted that for him the Lube band has always been associated with childhood. According to the musician, at the moment of listening to their songs, landscapes of rivers, valleys and expanses of his Homeland appear in his head.
