The Indian authorities want to purchase 140 Su-57 fighter jets from Russia, as Indian troops have problems with French Rafale aircraft. As Military Watch Magazine (MWM) noted on September 25, Russian fighters want to be distributed to seven squadrons of the country's Air Force.

According to the publication, the aircraft for completing the two squadrons will be produced in Russia, the remaining Su-57s are planned to be produced in India at the Hindustan Aeronautic company. It is indicated that the flight range and armament of the Su-57 meet the requirements of the local Air Force.

New Delhi has placed an urgent order for the supply of Russian aircraft amid the failures of the French Rafale in the Indian-Pakistani conflict, writes MWM.

"The increased interest of the Ministry of Defense in the Su-57 is due to recent operational realities, since this aircraft is considered optimal for filling the existing gap in armaments," the article says.

In August, The Times of India newspaper, citing a source, reported that India was considering the possibility of purchasing a Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter and an American F-35 fighter for its Air Force. According to the newspaper, India's need for foreign aviation will continue until the production of the domestic Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is completed by 2035.
