Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew to the UN General Assembly, which is taking place in the United States, bypassing most European countries to avoid arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC). This was reported on September 25 by the Anadolu newspaper.

The publication claims that Netanyahu flew to New York at night to address the General Assembly - he intends to criticize the states that have recognized the Palestinian state.

In addition, the Israeli leader will hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump on September 29, during which he will discuss Tel Aviv's aspirations regarding the operation in the Gaza Strip, the newspaper emphasizes.

The authors of the material indicated that the route of the aircraft attracted attention thanks to the FlightRadar service. According to the website, Netanyahu's plane, instead of its usual course through Central Europe, crossed the Mediterranean Sea using the airspace of Greece and Italy, bypassing the territory of France.

On May 20, 2024, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, issued a statement demanding the issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant. The court accuses the politicians of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Palestine since October 8, 2023.

Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog called on the world to condemn the move. Netanyahu's office called the court's document a blood libel, and Yair Lapid, the first chairman and founder of the Yesh Atid party, described the ICC's statement as a "disaster."
