The analyst has calculated the number of new car brands for Russia in 2025

In 2025, five new car brands appeared on the Russian market — Avatr, Rox, KGM, Tenet and Exlantix. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on September 25, who shared the results of the work of each of these brands.

The Avatr brand (part of Changan) is now officially represented by one model with the index 11. In eight months, 756 Avatr vehicles were registered in the Russian Federation, and 62 units were registered in the three weeks of September. There is no data yet on how much of them is accounted for by official sales, and which are supplied according to alternative schemes.

The large premium hybrid crossover Rox 01, which is also the only one in the brand's lineup, is not particularly favored by potential buyers yet, Tselikov noted. From the start of sales in February to September 20, 144 cars were sold.

The KGM brand (formerly SsangYong) did not sell after its debut in Russia at the beginning of the year, but sales increased after prices dropped in the summer. 1,115 KGM vehicles have been sold so far (292 units in the three weeks of September). The most popular model is the Corando crossover.

The Tenet brand has sold 1,179 copies of three T4, T7 and T8 models in less than a month since entering the market. The expert noted that Tenet has replaced the popular Chery model line, and the brand's models are sold in the same salons. As for Exlantix (part of the Chery group, represented in the Exeed line in Russia), 908 Exlantix ET crossovers and 106 Exlantix ES sedans have been sold since May.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that in August 2025, 37.5 thousand passenger cars were produced in Russia, which is 27.4% less than a year ago, according to Rosstat data. In just eight months of this year, 420 thousand passenger cars rolled off Russian assembly lines, which is 2.9% less year-on-year.

The day before, it became known that the situation with overstocking, which arose at the end of last year, is stabilizing in the Russian automotive market. In January of this year, the total stocks of new passenger cars amounted to about 600-700 thousand vehicles. By autumn, according to estimates by industry participants, the drains do not exceed 350 thousand cars.
