The court recognized the lawful extension of the arrest of the ex-deputy head of the Russian Guard Strigunov

On September 25, the Second Western District Military Court ruled lawful the extension of the arrest of Viktor Strigunov, the former first deputy head of the Russian Guard, accused of accepting bribes and abuse of office.

The meeting was held behind closed doors at the insistence of the defendant's lawyer.

"The decision of the judge of the 235th garrison military court to extend the term of arrest against the accused Viktor Nikolaevich Strigunov should be recognized as lawful," TASS cites the court's decision.

Timur Ivanov was found guilty of embezzlement and money laundering, but the investigation into the bribery case has not yet been completed.

On July 7, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against Strigunov. According to the investigation, Strigunov signed a multimillion-dollar state contract between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and SU Remstroytorg LLC for the construction of a training center, which was under the control of the defendant.
