Alikhanov named the timing of the mass production of the Atom electric car
Industrial production of the domestic Atom electric car is scheduled to begin in Russia at the end of this year, and the model is expected to enter the market in 2026. This was stated by Anton Alikhanov, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.
He called the domestic electric car modern and urban, but noted that the creators of Atom still "have something to work on."
"I have questions about some buttons and controls," TASS quoted Alikhanov as saying on September 25.
In mid-June, Kama, the developer of the Atom electric car, reported on the completion of equipping the production site in Moscow, where the assembly line will be carried out. The body welding and painting zones, as well as the calibration, testing and quality control zone, are ready to launch mass production.
In the summer, the company assembled a batch of 26 "verification" vehicles, which was required to confirm that they were ready for mass production and to set up all production processes.
Oleg Vakhromeev, Atom's Chief Operating Officer for Marketing, said on July 8 that the Russian Atom electric car would receive a special package designed for civil servants. It will have a different interior and will be offered in two body colors to choose from — black and white.
Philip Dyakov, head of Atom's testing department, told Izvestia on May 28 that Kama was considering the possibility of creating a hybrid version of the Atom car, as well as a hydrogen-powered model.
