The State Duma announced the introduction of a new type of credit holidays
From the beginning of next month, self-employed Russian citizens, as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, will have the right to apply for credit holidays once every five years. This was announced on September 25 by Alexander Demin, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium-sized Enterprises from the New People party.
"Starting from October 1, small and medium-sized businesses and the self-employed will be able to apply for credit holidays. It is possible to exercise this right no more than once every five years," the deputy is quoted as saying by TASS.
According to the deputy's statement, borrowers will be able to receive a deferral on loan obligations for up to six months. This measure, which applies to contracts concluded after March 1, 2024, will not negatively affect the credit history.
"The maximum loan amount will be set by the government. Before the establishment, the law stipulates: for medium—sized [enterprises] — 1 billion rubles, for small — 400 million rubles, for micro — 60 million rubles, for the self—employed - 10 million rubles," he added.
Demin clarified that the right to credit holidays does not apply to cases of reorganization or bankruptcy, the existence of a judicial settlement agreement on debt collection, an enforcement document, a claim against a guarantor, foreclosure on collateral, late payment of more than 30 days or a claim submitted by the creditor.
Andrey Glushkin, a member of the Council of the MRO Delovaya Rossiya, said on September 10 that from October 1, a new tool for supporting small and medium—sized businesses, as well as the self-employed, will begin operating in Russia - credit holidays. It was specified that limits on amounts will be set: from 10 million rubles for the self-employed to 1 billion rubles for medium-sized enterprises.
