On September 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov signed an agreement on the foundations of relations between the two countries during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development of Grenada at the UN General Assembly (GA), Joseph Endall.

"During the meeting, the ministers signed an agreement on the foundations of relations between the Russian Federation and Grenada, aimed at deepening interstate cooperation in the political, trade, economic, social and cultural spheres," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

It is specified that the parties also discussed various issues, including the development of cooperation between the states. Lavrov and Endall noted their mutual desire to intensify the bilateral dialogue.

Earlier in the day, during a meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, Lavrov confirmed the Russian position on the need for the United States to end the trade, economic and financial blockade of Cuba. In addition, Lavrov and Rodriguez stressed the mutual commitment of the parties to maintain a political dialogue between the states and deepen cooperation in trade and economic areas.
