The statement by US President Donald Trump that taking paracetamol during pregnancy may affect the birth of children diagnosed with autism is not absolutely accurate — many factors influence the development of this mental disorder. Ancha Baranova, PhD, Professor of the School of Systems Biology at George Mason University, announced this on September 24.

"There was no initial hypothesis. <...> The problem is that the risks of autism are increasing due to the influence of many factors, including hereditary and even somatic mutations. Paracetamol is just the first available and relatively (from the speaker's point of view) easily removable factor," she said in an interview with Lenta.ru .
