Galina, the mother of swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov, who disappeared in the Bosphorus, said on Wednesday, September 24, that the organizers of the swim were hiding details about her son's disappearance.

"We think that the organizers are hiding something, as there are no recordings from the swim. But the shooting was underway, there were many correspondents, but there were no recordings," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The woman said that the Red Cross informed the swimmer's family about the need to wait for news. According to her, there are many versions that Svechnikov fled to Turkey or Greece. However, the things at the hotel where the swimmer stayed before the tournament were handed over to the lawyer. It is noted that the list consists of 51 items, it also contains a passport.

"I know that there is a cafe on the shore of the Bosphorus, and the records were also seized there," the missing man's mother concluded.

Before that, Svechnikov's wife Antonina blamed the organizers of the swim, in which the Russian participated, for his disappearance. She stressed that the organizers did not expand the search area for rescuers, so the family lost valuable time that could have gone to rescue the swimmer.

Svechnikov disappeared on August 24. A professional swimmer did not reach the finish line across the Bosphorus in Istanbul. After swimming 500-600 m, the athlete disappeared from sight.
