The situation with overstocking, which arose at the end of last year, is stabilizing in the Russian automotive market. This was reported on September 24 by Kommersant, citing interviewed dealers and experts.

In January of this year, the total stocks of new passenger cars amounted to about 600-700 thousand vehicles. By autumn, according to estimates of industry participants, the drains do not exceed 350 thousand cars.

According to the forecast of Nikolai Ivanov, director of the Rolf new car sales department, by October the figure may drop to 280-300 thousand units. This will be facilitated by the growing demand in recent months and news about the upcoming change in the calculation of recycling, he believes.

As noted by Renat Tyukteev, Deputy General Director for New car sales at Avilon AG, the stocks of importers and dealers have decreased to reasonable values and correspond to current demand, and some brands have a certain deficit, for example, the Chinese Jetour. The drains may finally return to normal by the beginning of 2026, according to the experts interviewed.

Earlier, on September 22, it was reported that in Russia, the problem of new passenger cars from previous years of production remains at dealers and distributors. At the beginning of the year, stocks were estimated at 500 thousand such machines, by September 2023-2024, 135-140 thousand units remained in stock.
