Hockey players of the National Hockey League (NHL) will be able to receive up to 105% of their salary for the 2024/25 season due to the growth of league revenues and the abolition of the escrow mechanism. This was announced on September 24 by Sport-Express.

As part of the new Collective Agreement, the practice of withholding a portion of players' salaries, which was previously used to cover the difference between the income of players and club owners, was abolished. Last season, this mechanism had a negative value, which made it possible to increase payments to hockey players by 5% of their pre-tax contract amount.

Thus, the famous Russian striker of the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, will receive $11.55 million instead of the planned $11 million. Hockey players Sergey Bobrovsky and Artemy Panarin, despite the fact that they are not the leaders among Russians in terms of the amount of payments, will also receive additional money — $ 10.5 million each. Mikhail Sergachev will receive the largest amount among Russians — $11.675 million. Auston Matthews remains the leader in revenue among NHL hockey players, earning $17.535 million.

On September 22, it was reported that Ovechkin was once again among the top 50 active NHL players according to TSN. In 44th place was the Russian goalkeeper of the Florida Panthers, Sergey Bobrovsky, who was ranked 39th in a similar list last year.
