Estonia will spend more than €10 billion on defense in the next four years

Estonia will allocate over €10 billion for military spending in the next four years. This was announced on September 24 by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

"The Government of the Republic has approved the strategy of the state budget for the next four years, according to which more than €10 billion will be allocated for the development of national defense in the coming years," reads a statement published on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia.

It is noted that the emphasis will be on strengthening the detection capabilities of drones. In addition, more than half of the amount will be allocated for the purchase of ammunition, military equipment and equipment.

"Investments will also increase in the construction of training ranges, shooting ranges, training buildings, dispersed command posts and the Baltic Defensive Zone, as well as in command and communications capabilities," the ministry said.

The German Chancellor plans to return the introduction of universal military service, although it is not provided for by the coalition agreement.

On the same day, the European Commissioner for Defense, Andrius Kubilius, said that the European "drone wall" could be ready within a year. In addition, he noted that at the moment European countries do not have enough capabilities to detect drones.
