The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) demonstrates striking passivity and refuses to give a principled assessment of Kiev's actions after the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). This was announced on September 24 by the Governor of the Zaporizhia region Evgeny Balitsky.

"The inaction of the international regulator encourages nuclear terrorists and undermines the authority of the agency itself," Balitsky wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also noted that Russia continues its efforts to ensure global nuclear safety.

The day before, the NPP was disconnected from the last external power supply line that supplied it. It was later reported that this happened as a result of an APU strike. The station is powered by backup diesel generators to ensure safety.

Later, on September 24, Yashina reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces began daily shelling the area of the nuclear power plant and the satellite city of Energodar. She noted that the situation at the NPP, which is associated with the transition to the operation of backup diesel generators, does not go beyond the design assumptions.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
