The main advantage of face-to-face training is that it is based on direct, live communication, which is necessary for emotional contact. However, this format of education is quite expensive, says Vladimir Blinov, director of the Scientific and Educational Center for the Development of Education at the Higher School of Public Administration (HSE) of the Presidential Academy. He told Izvestia about this on September 25.

The professor clarified that mental activity, like any other human activity, is less effective in the absence of a certain emotional background.

"The work of an actor with an image requires empathy, the work of a mathematician and a programmer requires concentration and strong—willed efforts. All these are manifestations of the emotional-volitional sphere, the development of which is most productive in live communication. In the foreseeable future, there will be no simulators for the development of the emotional and volitional sphere of a person. Students need a teacher, a study group, and fellow classmates. This means that full—time education in the future, as well as in the present, plays an important role in student development and it is necessary to decide how to preserve it," the expert emphasized.

At the same time, such training is expensive. After all, this requires funds for the maintenance of classrooms, for paying for the work of professors and teachers, and for ensuring security.

In addition, each activity is unique. It cannot be repeated or reviewed on the record. The disadvantages may also include a shortage of hours and inconvenient class times.

"But as soon as it comes to training highly qualified specialists, there is a requirement to ban any form of educational process, except full-time. Military personnel, doctors, sailors, pilots — training of any specialists with high responsibility of work is carried out only full-time. Regardless of the costs and disadvantages," Blinov added.

Earlier, on August 13, it was reported that in Russia, during the admission campaign of 2025, the demand for technical and IT specialties increased significantly. This was told to Izvestia in universities. At the same time, the number of students from the CIS increased, with Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan showing the largest increase. Students from Angola, Nigeria and Cameroon are also actively coming to Russia to study.
