The expert gave tips on preparing the skin for a flight on an airplane
Even a short flight can affect the condition of the skin, and often not for the better. But if you follow simple rules, this stress can be minimized. Maria Verichenko, Head of Cosmetics at SOKOLOV brand, told Izvestia on September 29 how to prepare the skin for the flight, what to do on board and how to recover after the flight to keep the skin hydrated, healthy and protected.
"The skin reacts strongly to flights due to the unique environment of the aircraft cabin. The cabin air is characterized by extremely low humidity, which is usually only 10-20%, which is significantly lower than the skin-friendly 40-60%. Such dry air causes rapid evaporation of moisture from the upper layers of the skin, which leads to dehydration, a feeling of tightness and peeling," explains the expert.
The key to minimizing harmful effects is proper skin preparation. The expert recommends starting special care 24 hours before the flight. It can be a deep moisturizing session using a nourishing serum and moisturizer. According to Verichenko, a mask with hyaluronic acid or aloe vera gives a good effect.
She noted that it is also important to maintain hydration from the inside by consuming enough water and vitamins C and E to strengthen the protective functions of the skin. Before departure, you should clean your face with a mild remedy, then apply a serum with antioxidants (for example, vitamin C) and a light-textured moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid or glycerin. Be sure not to forget about the sunscreen with SPF.
"Tissue moisturizing masks with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera or panthenol will be most effective. They quickly saturate the skin with moisture, do not require rinsing and are very convenient to use. For additional protection, you can choose a mask with antioxidants. It is better to make masks in the middle or towards the end of the flight, but not just before landing, so that the active ingredients have time to fully absorb," the expert recommends.
Verichenko also warned that heavy and greasy creams should not be used, as they can clog pores and cause discomfort. The expert advises to avoid aggressive cleansers with alcohol content. In addition, she recommended not touching your face with unwashed hands to avoid inflammation.
On September 19, Natalia Indilova, a cosmetologist and dermatovenerologist at the Institute of Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology, gave tips on skin care in the autumn period. She recommended avoiding aggressive face wash gels and choosing soft foams and cream gels with moisturizing ingredients. It is also important to enhance exfoliation: autumn is the best time to introduce acids such as glycolic or almond.
