Zakharova called on Moldovans to unite against Romanization
Moldovans must unite against the ongoing Romanization, otherwise they will lose control of their own lives. This was announced on September 24 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"The regime of [Moldovan President Maia] Sandu has Romanianized the state, society, and all signs of sovereignty to this extent. <...> This is a test for people if people do not unite in resisting <...> this attack on them. It's just that if they <...> don't raise their immunity to the level of absolute rejection of such ideas, then everything will be in trouble," she said in an interview with Sputnik radio.
She noted that if Moldovans do not fight, they will have to mimic, and then they will lose absolute control over their lives.
Earlier, on September 15, Ilan Shor, the leader of the Pobeda bloc of opposition parties, said that Sandu and her ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) had intensified repression against the opposition in order to intimidate it before the upcoming parliamentary elections. He noted that 13 days before the elections scheduled for September 28, the Moldovan National Anti-Corruption Center (NCCC), under the jurisdiction of the head of state, detained several representatives of the bloc.
