Presidential elections in Ukraine can be held subject to a number of conditions, one of which will be a cease-fire. This was announced on September 24 by President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with Fox News channel.

"If there is a ceasefire, we can hold elections," TASS quoted him as saying.

Zelensky also stressed that holding a vote is possible with the unconditional support of Kiev's partners.

On September 18, Sergey Dubovik, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Ukraine, pointed out that there were no prerequisites for holding elections in his country in 2026. He noted that to hold such an event, it is necessary to have a large amount of money from $ 388 million to $485 million, which the budget for 2026 does not provide.

Prior to that, on August 18, Zelensky, during a meeting with US President Donald Trump, did not rule out the possibility of holding elections in the country, saying that his administration was "open" to this issue.
