On September 23, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called for the reform of the UN Security Council on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

"We need to create a new group of like—minded people who will put forward concrete proposals for UN reform in a highly professional manner and without hesitation," he said.

According to him, this is necessary to ensure that the organization meets modern challenges and objectives. Tokayev added that major Asian, African and Latin American states should be represented in the Security Council on a rotating basis.

On September 17, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for the reform of the UN Security Council, removing the realities of 1945. He stressed that he would consider proposals from France and the United Kingdom to limit the right of veto in cases where massive human rights violations occur. Later, on September 23, Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanar said that in light of the anniversary, the UN fully supports the reform of the organization.
