- LDPR Deputy Speaker of the State Duma spoke out against the ban on the Gaza Strip group
The government's ban on the Russian rock band Gaza Strip is similar to the ban on history, such creativity has now become a cultural heritage. Boris Chernyshov, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party, told Izvestia on September 23.
"There are those groups, individual performers, soloists, collectives, whose work is basically a cultural heritage. We saw how they wanted to ban the Gaza Strip. Yes, there are various songs and ditties with the use of obscenities and other things, but that was the period in which they sang and performed," he believes.
According to the MP, the ban on such performers will lead to a direct ban on the story. Chernyshov also called for a simpler attitude towards the work of musical figures who actively respond to the situation in the country and reflect it through creativity.
He stressed that it is necessary to focus on the request of society, as well as limit unnecessary things. At the same time, the group's ban caused a lot of negative reviews, which indicates the ambiguity of the situation. Chernyshov added that if the composition has existed for 20-30 years, a sign with the inscription "do not touch" should appear on it in order to protect the "cultural phenomenon" from the negative impact of modern realities and opinions.
Nina Ostanina, head of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, said on September 17 that the Gaza Strip group should be banned. Shortly after, Ostanina denied the information about the group's ban. However, she noted the need to label songs with profanity on music venues.
