Patrice Lumumba's daughter, politician Juliana Lumumba, spoke about the importance of cooperation between Russia and African countries. She told about it on September 23 at the Food Quality and Safety conference.

"It is important for me that Russia and Africa be together, but there is a nuance: Russia is one country, Africa is 54. When we talk about Africa, we should take into account its diversity, <...> for example, in central Africa, 60% of the population is under 25 years old, and it is also rich in raw materials," Lumumba shared.

She also commented on Congo's potential membership in BRICS and the country's cooperation with Russia.

"Congo is not a member of BRICS at the moment, but we have a lot to share. We need to cooperate, we need to know where Russia wants to go with us. We need joint programs and projects, we need to get to know each other better... > We need to build a foundation for young people, we know what young people in Congo want, but we don't know what they want in Russia. We need to get young people interested. We need to be modern," the politician said.

Lumumba also shared that it was a great honor for her to attend the conference.

"I am very proud to be here at the RUDN University, which also bears my father's name, and it is an honor for me and my entire family. As you know, Russia was the first country to protest after my father's assassination in 1961. It is a symbol not only of solidarity, but also of people who value freedom and truth. As long as we have people who believe in these values, they will not disappear," she said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 3 that cooperation with Congo is one of the priorities in Russia's foreign policy activities.
