The United States has not received an offer from the Hamas movement to release half of the hostages. This was announced on September 23 by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Fox News channel.

Fox News reported on the movement's personal letter to the American leader on September 22. It was pointed out that Hamas is asking Trump to guarantee a 60-day pause in the Israeli offensive on Gaza City in exchange for the release of half of the hostages.

"The President [of the United States Donald Trump] has already made it clear that he is not interested in [a pause in fighting for] 60 days, [the release of] 10 people. He wants all the hostages released, all 48, including 20 alive and 28 dead," Rubio said.

Earlier, on September 16, US President Donald Trump said that Hamas would face big problems if it used hostages as human shields.

Israel launched massive strikes throughout the Gaza Strip on September 16. Later, the country's defense ministry noted that the IDF would strike Gaza until it defeated Hamas and freed the hostages.

Meanwhile, the UN Commission of Inquiry into the events in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel has recognized Tel Aviv's actions in the Gaza Strip as genocide.
