Elon Musk's father was accused of sexually abusing children

An investigation by The New York Times (NYT) on September 23 revealed that the father of American billionaire Elon Musk, Errol Musk, has been accused of sexually abusing five of his children and stepsons since 1993.

"One of the important factors in Elon Musk's breakup with his father was the allegations of child sexual abuse against Errol Musk. These accusations have repeatedly affected the life of Elon Musk, as relatives turned to him for help, and he himself sometimes attempted to intercede for them, judging by personal letters," the newspaper writes, citing its own investigation.

According to police and court records, personal correspondence, testimony from social workers and interviews with family members, the charges against Errol Musk relate to his five children and stepsons.

The earliest accusation was made in 1993, when Errol Musk's four-year-old stepdaughter told relatives that she claimed he had touched her. Some family members also accused Errol Musk of abusing his two daughters and stepson.

"Three separate investigations have been initiated. Two of them have been completed, and the details of the third are still unclear. 79-year—old Errol Musk has not been convicted of any crime," the article says.

It is clarified that the allegations of violence caused discord in the Musk family, and some relatives turned to Elon, the eldest son of Errol Musk, for help.

"We really need your advice, help and guidance in these matters, because we see these children suffering every day," a relative wrote in a letter seen by the newspaper.

According to the NYT, the American billionaire provided financial support to his former stepmother and two stepsisters and sends monthly money transfers to his former stepsister. "He was trying to keep his stepfamily and stepbrothers in California," where they would be away from Errol, the article claims.
