Over the past day, 340 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 391 injured. 19 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 23 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 82 accidents, 41 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and the same number outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, and 81 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 18 child pedestrians, eight of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

In Belgorod, in the morning, a 42-year-old SUV driver ran into a 65-year-old woman at an unregulated pedestrian crossing when turning left. An elderly woman was hospitalized.

15 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 19 more road users, including one child, required medical attention. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

Also, over the past day, 44 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 46 young road users were injured, including 17 passengers and seven motor transport drivers. One child, a pedestrian, was killed.

So, in the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd region, a 40-year-old driver of a city minibus traveling without passengers, when turning right at a traffic light, did not notice a nine-year-old schoolgirl who was crossing the roadway unaccompanied by adults on a scooter, ran over her. As a result of the accident, the child died.

In Ufa, a 38-year-old female passenger car driver, when turning at an unregulated intersection, did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a cross-country pit bike moving towards her without external lighting devices. The motor vehicle was driven by a 15-year-old schoolboy without a driver's license. As a result of the accident, a ninth-grader was hospitalized with injuries.

The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that the operation of motorcycles of the "sports equipment" category on public roads — outside specialized trails for classes and competitions in motorsport — is strictly prohibited. Parents were urged to strictly monitor and prevent, rather than encourage, attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, excluding for them the possibility of access to driving cars and motor vehicles without rights.

For driving a moped, scooter, motorcycle, or car without studying at a driving school and obtaining a driver's license of the appropriate category, a fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles is provided, while the vehicle is delayed and placed in a specialized parking lot. The administrative penalty for transferring the right to drive a vehicle to a child is 30 thousand rubles. Teenage drivers under the age of 16 will be the responsibility of their parents or legal representatives.

"We urge motorists to be extremely careful when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings, especially unregulated ones. Never rush through them as quickly as possible, thereby creating danger for other road users, including pedestrians. Be collected and careful, leaving yourself plenty of time to react adequately to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment. Reduce your speed as much as possible until the vehicle stops completely in order to allow pedestrians to pass," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on September 17, it was reported that the number of road accidents in Moscow in the first eight months of 2025 decreased by 8% compared to the same period last year. The number of deaths in accidents decreased by 29%.
