Erdogan's microphone was turned off during a speech at a UN conference
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's microphone was turned off during his speech at the United Nations on September 22, but the official representatives of the head of state immediately stated that the shutdown occurred due to exceeding the allotted time for speech.
"According to the rules of procedure of the conference, <...> five minutes were allocated for speeches by heads of state and Government, and three minutes for other speakers. In this context, the Turkish President's speech was limited to five minutes. Thus, it is impossible for the president to be interrupted or deprived of his opportunity to speak," the Communications Department of the Republic of Turkey wrote on the social network X.
It is specified that the speech of the Turkish president lasted longer than necessary due to frequent applause.
Erdogan, in an interview with reporters on September 22, spoke about the idea of a union of Turkey, Russia and China. The President stated that he had not yet fully familiarized himself with the idea of this union, but he would like everything to turn out as well as possible.
