The destruction of aircraft that allegedly violate the airspace of Western countries should be a last resort. This was stated on September 21 by the chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, in an interview for the German newspaper Tagesspiegel.
"Shooting them down [planes allegedly violating the borders of Western states] would be an extreme measure. Our air force knows when and what to do," Strack-Zimmerman said.
