In Russia, it was proposed to gradually change cars with a right-hand drive in Russia "to safer vehicles." This initiative was made by the head of the Economic Committee of the Federation Council, Andrei Kutepov. He prepared an appeal addressed to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, RIA Novosti reported on September 22.

Measures to replace such machines are called "regulatory/restrictive" in the letter. It is assumed that they should be "planned in stages." To replace right-hand drive cars, the Federation Council considers it advisable to take measures to encourage citizens, for example, to introduce the necessary state subsidy programs.

The senator noted that new cars should be provided with the necessary supplies of spare parts, as well as a wide service infrastructure.

Earlier, on September 3, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said that a ban on the operation of right-hand drive cars is currently impossible in Russia, since they are massively used by Russians, in particular, in the Far East.

On July 29, the Russian Interior Ministry said that information that the ministry was allegedly planning to ban the purchase, sale and operation of vehicles with right-hand drive was not true.
