US President Donald Trump praised his meeting with American billionaire Elon Musk on Sunday, September 21, at a memorial service for conservative politician and activist Charlie Kirk.

The US president told reporters about his conversation with the entrepreneur on Board Number One during his return from Arizona.

"Elon came over and greeted me. But no, it has nothing to do with it. And it was good of him that he came and we talked for a while. We had a very good relationship <...> But it was nice that he came," Trump told reporters.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the US president and American billionaire Elon Musk shook hands at a farewell ceremony with Kirk. It was noted that during the event they also sat in adjacent seats.

Kirk's farewell ceremony took place on September 21 at the State Farm in Arizona. There was a queue of thousands in front of the building. Some Americans also came from other states to honor the memory of the murdered activist.

Kirk died on September 10 as a result of an assassination attempt committed at the time of his speech at the University of Utah. He played a key role in Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election.

On September 16, suspect Tyler Robinson was formally charged with serious murder, intentionally or knowingly causing Kirk's death in circumstances that pose a significant risk of death to others. The next day, he appeared in court for the first time via video link and spoke only once — when he was asked to introduce himself.
