A court in Samara has sentenced Mr. Cider beverage producer Anar Huseynov to nine years in prison for making and distributing a toxic drink that caused mass poisoning. This was reported on September 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

It is specified that the supplier of alcohol for the drink, Artyom Hayrapetyan, received eight years in prison.

In June 2023, Rospotrebnadzor reported the seizure of 66.5 thousand liters of "Mr. Cider" in 15 regions of the country. Then, in several regions at once, it became known about the mass poisoning with the counterfeit drink "Mr. Cider". Huseynov, suspected of producing surrogate alcohol, was detained.

A criminal case was opened into the poisoning under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence").

On September 8 of this year, it was reported that Hayrapetyan sold Huseynov 6 tons of dangerous methanol, which he acquired from ex-policeman Ivan Grebenkin and his friends. It is known that they stole alcohol from the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. It has been stored there since 2012. As a result, more than 100 people were poisoned by the drink, 50 of whom died. The total amount of the claims exceeds 46 million rubles.
