On September 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the country's Jews on Rosh Hashanah, emphasizing their respect for the history and traditions of their people.
"Caring for the history of their people and following ancient traditions today serve as a spiritual support for Russian Jews, who make an important contribution to the development of the country and the strengthening of interethnic and interreligious harmony," the telegram says, published on the Kremlin's official website.
The Russian leader noted that this holiday, which marks the beginning of the new year according to the Jewish calendar, encourages repentance, mercy and compassion, and also symbolizes commitment to the high moral values underlying all traditional religions.
Putin also wished Russian Jews health, success and all the best.
Earlier, on August 9, Putin congratulated Russian athletes and workers in the field of physical education on the Day of Physical Education, noting the importance of sports as a tradition of Russian society.
