Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to discuss "vital steps" in the Middle East region with US Leader Donald Trump. On September 21, the Turkish leader told reporters in front of the Turkevi skyscraper in New York.

"Every step taken in the Middle East is vital for us. Of course, we need to discuss this with Mr. Trump. This is very, very important," Turkish TV channel TRT Haber quoted him as saying.

Erdogan said that he is also planning a meeting with the President of the Syrian transitional period, Ahmed al-Sharaa. The Turkish leader arrived in the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

On September 19, it was reported that Trump would receive Erdogan at the White House on Thursday, September 25. It is noted that Washington and Ankara are working on numerous joint trade and military deals. Among them, Trump highlights the large-scale purchase of Boeing aircraft and the F-16 deal.
