Swimming at seaside resorts around the world is becoming less comfortable and safe due to climate change and environmental degradation. This was announced on September 22 by Philip Sapozhnikov, a leading researcher at the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"We are gradually moving towards the fact that it will soon be more profitable and safer to swim in the hotel pool in Egypt, Anapa, and Gelendzhik. More and more tourist complexes in the tropics are equipped with pools with sea water and ocean views," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the oceanologist, pools are becoming a convenient alternative to closed beaches where sharks or poisonous jellyfish can be found.

"This kind of recreation is better than swimming by the sea with the risk of being licked by the tentacles of a jellyfish," he added.

Earlier, on August 21, it was reported that a massive invasion of jellyfish was again recorded off the coast of Crimea. The largest concentration of them was found in the Kerch Strait, where the surface of the water began to resemble jelly. The Izvestia correspondent noted that although the jellyfish are not fatal, the burn from their tentacles is severe, which is why the beaches are empty.
