Nuclear-powered cruiser Krasnoyarsk hit a target in the Barents Sea
The Arkhangelsk nuclear-powered submarine missile cruiser of the Northern Fleet has successfully launched the Onyx anti-ship cruise missile at a naval target in the Barents Sea. A training target simulating a simulated enemy ship at a distance of about 200 km was hit by a direct hit. This was announced on September 22 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"The crew showed professionalism and naval training in the preparation and conduct of firing," said Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, Commander of the Northern Fleet.
The launch was carried out from an underwater position. The firing area was previously closed to civilian shipping and aviation, and its safety was ensured by ships of the Kola Flotilla.
Arkhangelsk is a submarine of the Yasen-M project 885M, laid down in 2015 and accepted into the Navy in December 2024. The project was developed by Malakhit Design Bureau and is equipped with modern shock and electronic systems.
Earlier, on September 19, it was reported that the multipurpose nuclear submarines Krasnoyarsk and Omsk of the Pacific Fleet successfully launched cruise missiles Onyx and Granite at a target in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk. All the missiles also hit the target with direct hits.
