US President Donald Trump and American billionaire Elon Musk shook hands at the farewell ceremony for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which is taking place at the State Farm Stadium.

During the event, they also sat in adjacent seats.

"Tesla CEO Elon Musk took a seat next to Trump in his private box when the [US] Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth started talking," according to NBC News, the broadcaster of the ceremony.

Kirk's farewell ceremony is taking place at the State Farm in Arizona. There was a queue of thousands in front of the building. Some Americans also came from other states to honor the memory of the murdered activist.

Kirk died on September 10 as a result of an assassination attempt committed at the time of his speech at the University of Utah. He played a key role in the victory of American President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

On September 16, suspect Tyler Robinson was formally charged with serious murder, intentionally or knowingly causing Kirk's death in circumstances that pose a significant risk of death to others. The next day, he appeared in court for the first time via video link and spoke only once — when he was asked to introduce himself.
