Political activist Charlie Kirk was a powerful force for Americans, particularly on university campuses. On September 21, US citizen Sherry, who came to say goodbye to a public figure, told Izvestia about this.

"It's incredibly important for me to honor Charlie's memory. He was a powerful force on university campuses in the United States and then beyond. He spoke on behalf of those who are usually not heard in the university environment, where a conservative worldview is met with outright hostility. And he always did it — boldly, openly," she shared.

According to the American woman, Kirk withstood a variety of attacks and false accusations against himself. She noted that it was still unthinkable for her to realize his murder on the basis of a false accusation. Sherry stressed that the Americans are standing up for him in this regard.

"Because we're all Charlie. And, as they say, this is our turning point. It is no longer a matter of choice, but a matter of responsibility to carry on his message and do it the same way he does: with dignity, clarity of thought, intelligence and kindness. That's our goal. We are Charlie," she added.

Jedidiah, a US citizen, stressed that it was important for him to pay tribute to Kirk for the words of wisdom and truth that he spoke. According to him, the Americans gathered to say goodbye to the activist, to support him and his family, and also to demonstrate to the world that the people are no longer going to be silent.

"I would say that his biggest influence is his willingness to engage in dialogue. Many of us prefer to hide behind social media, behind our posts, but he really went out to people and talked to them face to face — and he did it maturely, respectfully. I think that was his main gift," he clarified.

Kirk's farewell ceremony will take place at the State Farm in Arizona. There was a queue of thousands in front of the building. Some Americans also came from other states to honor the memory of the murdered activist.

Kirk died on September 10 as a result of an assassination attempt committed at the time of his speech at the University of Utah. He played a key role in the victory of American President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

On September 16, suspect Tyler Robinson was formally charged with serious murder, intentionally or knowingly causing Kirk's death in circumstances that pose a significant risk of death to others. The next day, he appeared in court for the first time via video link and spoke only once — when he was asked to introduce himself.
