Two-time Stanley Cup winner in the Philadelphia National Hockey League (NHL), goalkeeper Bernie Parent, has died at the age of 80. This was announced on September 21 by the team's press service.

In the winning draws of the Stanley Cup, the Canadian goalkeeper twice became the most valuable player of the playoffs.

"He won the Stanley Cup twice with the club in 1974 and 1975, both times featuring impeccable play in the decisive matches of each series, scoring two wins without conceding goals and receiving the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the playoffs," the HC website says.

In addition to Philadelphia, Parent also defended the gates of the Boston and Toronto clubs in the NHL. In 1974 and 1975, he also won the Vezina Trophy, an award given to the best goalkeeper based on the results of the regular season. The athlete finished his career in 1979.

In the NHL, the goalkeeper played in 679 matches, and he also participated in NHL All-Star Games five times. According to the results of his career — 270 wins, 121 draws, 197 defeats and 55 shutouts with an average coefficient of 2.55. Parent's name was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984.
