Degtyarev and Lut spoke at the plenary session as part of the "Land of Sports" marathon

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, and Oksana Lut, Head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, spoke at a plenary session on Sunday, September 21, as part of the Land of Sports marathon in the Sirius federal Territory of the Krasnodar Territory.

"Thanks to the Earth of Sports marathon, we are making sports closer and more accessible to those people who live outside big cities. Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin constantly emphasizes that it is extremely important for the future of our country that as many citizens of all ages as possible — adults, children, and youth — choose the values of a healthy and active lifestyle. This directly determines the quality of life, the health of the nation, our demographic future, and therefore the strength and sovereignty of the country," said the head of the Ministry of Sports.

Degtyarev also expressed confidence that in the coming years all Russian regions, without exception, will join the ranks of the marathon.

"Our competitions are unique in that they unite all generations. This year, the youngest athlete is only 7 years old, and the oldest is 69 years old. In short, we have no age or professional limits. Everyone can choose their favorite discipline and go to the start. This is a chance for all participants to test their character and prove themselves," Luth emphasized.

The business program took place in the Olympic Village. It brought together representatives of government authorities, sports organizations, as well as educational institutions. The program was moderated by Sergey Kryukov, President of the Russian Student Sports Union and Executive Director of the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia.

During the discussion, the participants touched upon the issues of involving students in regular physical education classes, as well as strengthening the sports infrastructure in the system of agricultural universities.

"44 specialized agricultural universities, on the basis of which 29 sports clubs are currently operating, is a great field for our joint activities with the Ministry of Agriculture. In April, the Government approved an intersectoral program for the development of student sports. Its coordinator is the Russian Student Sports Union, the heir to the most powerful Burevestnik society, an umbrella organization that today aims to unite students, including those who study agriculture," Degtyarev shared.

The final of the "Land of Sports" brought together sports fans from 67 Russian regions. The program included tournaments in mini-football, volleyball, GTO all-around, strength tests, as well as family relay races. Interactive platforms were organized for children and family teams, including the city of professions of the agroindustrial complex "I'm in Agro". At the end, a concert show was held.

The All-Russian sports event with distances from 1 to 12 km will be held simultaneously in all regions of Russia.

Earlier, on May 17, Degtyarev paid a working visit to the Omsk region and discussed with the governor of the region Vitaly Khotsenko the development of sports infrastructure. The head of the Ministry of Sports stressed that the Ministry would assist in the resumption of the Blinov Palace sports complex, as this facility is a landmark for the whole of Siberia.
