The State Duma announced that Russians have received payments in digital rubles since October 1.

Starting from October 1, Russian citizens will be able to receive a portion of social benefits in digital rubles. This was announced on September 21 by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy and federal coordinator of the Digital Russia project.

"Starting from October 1, 2025, the first stage of introducing the digital ruble into the budget process will start in Russia. At the initial stage, digital rubles will be used for a limited list of federal budget expenditures," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the appropriate approach allows testing the new system on a limited scale, as well as avoiding disruptions during a mass transition.
