The Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation explained on September 21 how to recognize fake letters issued as messages from Public Services, RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

It is noted that notifications from Public Services come exclusively by email or via SMS specified in the personal account, and there are no such mailings in messengers.

"The letters do not ask for personal data (SNILS, bank cards, codes). Information about fines and payments is always available in your personal account. They never ask you to call back or send an SMS code," the law enforcement officers note.

In addition, it clarifies that you should check the sender's address — it must completely match the official one, and all links lead only to the website. gosuslugi.ru . If in doubt, it is not recommended to follow links, open attachments, or transfer your data.

On September 9, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that fraudsters in Russia use malicious applications to deceive victims by posing as employees of banks, law enforcement agencies or technical support. The attackers create a hidden copy of the card on the victim's device, which is called a "drop card".
