The Interior Ministry told a way to identify a fraudster through a dating site

Usually, on a dating site, a person who lives abroad and is actively looking for a life partner in a particular region of Russia is a fraudster. This was announced on September 21 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The interlocutor is looking for acquaintances in the region of the potential victim, while living in another country," the RIA Novosti news agency quoted the Interior Ministry as saying.

It is noted that people who are on a dating site should not rely solely on photos and descriptions in the questionnaire.

Scammers usually offer meetings, but due to "unforeseen circumstances" they cannot attend them, and due to a fictitious reason, they ask the potential victim for money.
