Russian wrestler Artur Sargsyan became the silver medalist of the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship. This became known on September 21.

It is noted that in the final bout in the weight category up to 97 kg, the Russian athlete lost to an opponent from Iran, the 2024 Olympic champion Mohammadhadi Saravi.

"This is the second World Cup medal in Sargsyan's career, and he won the bronze medal in 2021," Sport-Express reported.

Earlier, on August 24, Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Ali Ilyasov won a gold medal at the U-20 World Championship. Ilyasov defeated Turkish wrestler Kemal Bakir in the final match of the weight category up to 130 kg. In the category up to 87 kg, Russian Abdurakhman Abdulkadyrov won the silver medal, losing in the final to Georgian Luka Kochalidze.
