On September 20, the fourth online cinema festival "New Season" ended at the Rosa Khutor resort. The main prize in the "Most Anticipated TV Series" category was awarded to the lyrical comedy "Stand Up", and the lead actor Gosha Kutsenko was awarded for the best male role. Anna Mikhalkova received a statuette in the nomination "Heroine of the new season" for her role in the project "Half-life". And choreographer Miguel was named the opening of the festival for his directorial debut, "The Art of Falling." For the fourth year in a row, Sochi's Rosa Khutor resort has been transformed into a cinema town for one September week. The main representatives of the industry — actors, directors, screenwriters, producers, whom a casual tourist can meet at literally every step - come here to the New Season online cinema festival. For example, on the boardwalk or at the checkout counter in a supermarket. Here, streaming companies present their unreleased projects to their colleagues — films and TV series that promise to become hits. For example, "The Word of a Kid" was shown for the first time on this site, and "Outsourcing" was shown a year later.
Some of the works presented this year were liked by the public, others were met with little enthusiasm, and others caused controversy. For example, the culinary drama "Zhar" (Ivi) with Daniil Vorobyov growling in a voice not his own in the role of an unbalanced chef divided the professional audience into two camps. Some were categorical, others were enthusiastic and kept saying: "You just don't understand!" and gave him the best grades.

But with regard to one project, it seems that everyone was unanimous. The series "Get on your Feet" (Okko) made a strong impression and became an event. Here Mila Yershova plays the role of a young girl confined to a wheelchair, and Gosha Kutsenko as her father, named Stary, who suddenly announced her after 20 years in prison (that's how he says through "u"). She is not happy to meet with a convict, whom she blames for her situation and for the death of her mother, he is unsuccessfully trying to establish a connection with the only native person, and also to understand this modern world, where everyone now drinks coffee on almond milk unknown to him. He finds a common language faster with the district police officer, who, unlike others, does not label the ward, and with the barista of a local coffee shop with Down syndrome, who sees no reason not to hire the former prisoner.
— The painting is saturated with realism. She's very touching. Anton Sankevich, our artist with Down syndrome, brought a special charm. It was very interesting and fun to be in the frame with him, because we were in improvisation mode all the time. He could come up in the middle of the stage and suddenly hug, and then continue the remark. It was necessary to match him. He was just the censor of such an actor's existence in the frame, despite our experience and age," Gosha Kutsenko told Izvestia before the premiere.
The hour and a half that lasted for the first two episodes turned into an emotional swing. Loud laughter and sobs could be heard in the hall. The effect afterwards was significant — on the porch of the cinema you could see the audience, who until then could not stop crying. The project turned out to be easy, kind and funny, but at the same time sad and serious.
— Initially, the character of the Old one was born, inspired by my late former brother-in-law. And then other characters began to appear — people whom we do not notice in ordinary life. They exist, but we are all very tolerant of doing them good and pretending that the world exists without them. It's about people with disabilities, about people who came from places not so remote. There are many such people. It turned out to be such a good, kind, funny story," screenwriter Alexander Noskov shared with Izvestia.

It seems that no one doubted that "Getting back on your Feet" would take the main award after the show. The film critics made bets on him. It was discussed by the audience before the start of the closing ceremony at the Rose Hall. And so it happened: the project won in the "Most Anticipated Series" nomination. Gosha Kutsenko received another award. He was named the "Hero of the new season" — that is, he was awarded a statuette for the best male role.
Anna Mikhalkova received a similar award among women — she became the "Heroine of the new season" for the historical drama "Half-Life" (Okko). The plot tells about the Totsk nuclear exercises in 1954. Several decades later, a journalist takes up the investigation of history in order to uncover the truth about the events that claimed thousands of lives. The project has gathered a strong cast. In addition to Mikhalkova, Philip Yankovsky starred in it, again Mila Ershova, Petar Zekavitsa, Marina Vasilyeva, Dmitry Chebotarev. The audience saw this series before "Getting Back on your Feet" and until then he was the main favorite to win.

The "best film" according to the jury was Dmitry Vlaskin's "The Family Man" (Start). The plot centers on millionaire George, who, having met his birthday alone, requires an assistant to organize a real family for him in the morning.
The screening ended with the screening of the drama "The Art of Falling" (Okko) about behind—the-scenes dance shows - this is choreographer Miguel's directorial debut, for which he received a prize in the category "Opening of the new Season". Among the most notable are the third season of "Vampires of the Middle Lane", which will not feature Gleb Kalyuzhny (the actor serves in the army), the film "Be my Boyfriend" with Sasha Bortich, who is remembered in the last "New Season" for "Chemistry between us", "Tunnel" about smugglers and the Finnish mafia with Elizabeth Boyarskaya and Sergey Gilev, the second season of "Cyber Village", which turned out to be at the top according to film critics, the war drama "Berlin Heat", "Nanny Oksana" — a remake of "My Beautiful Nanny", "Prints", where the characters of Oksana Akinshina and Dmitry Chebotarev investigate a series of brutal murders in a quiet town.

The "New Season" is famous for its parties, which are hosted by streaming services and reviewers. To some extent, this is also becoming an unspoken competition. Premier gave a strong start, which gathered the audience on a large terrace in the Skypark on the first day after the opening ceremony. We have brought the most hyped team of recent months — Tatiana Bulanova and her dancers, whose performances delight users of social networks.
— This is my first time at the "New Season"! It is incredibly valuable to me that our series "A Thousand No's and One Yes's" (Wink) is in the competition program. And I also knew that there were parties on the "New Season". I've never gone to them in my life, but I made a costume, and yesterday Yulia Khlynina and I wanted to sleep, but we packed up and went to the event. It's nice to see friends and colleagues, not in a situation where you work and pass by at Mosfilm, but when you have the opportunity to stop and talk," actress Angelina Strechina told Izvestia.

Another event is that eight years later, there will be a sequel to "House Arrest," where Pavel Derevyanko played an official caught taking a bribe.
By the way, the actor also came to the festival to support the comedy "Family Man" in the competition, where he played the main role. And later, on the penultimate day of the show, he went to Evie's party in the company of his wife Zoya Futs. There were no musical surprises, but every guest could have been a headliner. There were actors Alexandra Child, Daniil Vorobyov, Artem Tkachenko, Ivan Dobronravov, Anna Banshchikova, Leonid Bichevin and many other movie stars.
Outside of the competition, the audience of the "New Season" met not only at evening events. On September 17, the ACTION! breakfast was held as part of the festival, which is held annually for friends of cinematographers by the Svetlana Bondarchuk and Evgenia Popova Cultural and Charitable Foundation. Among the guests were screenwriter Andrey Zolotarev, actors Mikhail Troinik, Vladimir Kanukhin, Denis Vlasenko, director Vladimir Khotienko. The audience was shown short films, including "Andromeda" by Anna Melikyan, "Crossed" by Ivan Dobronravov and others.
Okko was responsible for the closing party. The headliner was the band "Hands Up!".
