Zakharova called his wife the initiator of Yushchenko's decisions.
Catherine Claire Chumachenko, an employee of the US State Department, who is the wife of a Ukrainian politician, is behind all the decisions of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko. This was announced on September 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
"Catherine Claire Chumachenko, an employee of the State Department and his wife, is behind all the decisions in Yushchenko's life. Her parents are migrant workers. Slavs who were taken to forced labor in the Third Reich were called by this word," the diplomat noted, answering a question from Komsomolskaya Pravda.
This is how she commented on Yushchenko's demand to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to continue the military conflict and literally "go to Moscow." The diplomat noted that the word "ostarbeiters" referred to Slavs who were taken to forced labor in the Third Reich.
"After Germany, the family ended up in the United States, where they joined the ranks of Ukrainian nationalists. Ukrainians, as a peaceful, hardworking nation, are not needed by the West. We need "ostorbiters" or corpses. So they are implementing this concept," Zakharova added.
The wife of the former Ukrainian leader was born in 1961 in the American city of Chicago (Illinois). Her parents are Mikhail and Sofia Chumachenko. She has been married to Yushchenko since 1998.
Yushchenko, who led the country from 2005 to 2010, said on September 19 that Ukrainians should strive to march "on Moscow" as part of the conflict with the Russian Federation. In an interview on the YouTube channel Apostrophe TV, the former leader of the country said that within the framework of the "victory formula" Ukraine should not stop at the borders of 1991. He also added that his country should become the "bulletproof vest of Europe", which will protect the states of the European Union (EU) better than their regular armies.
