- The Ministry of Transport did not support the idea of introducing toll roads on all roads of the Russian Federation
The idea of introducing a toll on all roads in Russia, which has been expressed by some experts, is not being discussed or considered by the Russian Ministry of Transport. This was announced on September 20 by the official representative of the department Nikolai Shestakov.
"The Russian Ministry of Transport is not discussing or considering the idea of introducing toll roads on all roads in the country. This opinion was expressed by a separate speaker during an expert discussion. The ministry does not support this initiative," TASS quoted him as saying.
Yesterday, Denis Kiryukhin, deputy head of the Rosavtodor department, said that the department plans to make travel on all roads of the country toll—free by 2030. He explained this proposal by increasing the cost of maintaining and repairing roads, as well as budget constraints.
On September 18, the newspaper Kommersant, citing the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, reported that the agency may legislate free parking at home for the first time. It was noted that a draft law is being prepared there describing the mechanism for car owners to obtain resident permits.
