France cited the reason for Macron's interest in Ukraine and Palestine.
French President Emmanuel Macron is clinging to Ukraine and Palestine to prove to everyone that he still exists in the political arena. This was announced on September 20 by Pierre Lelouch, former Secretary of State for European Affairs at the French Foreign Ministry.
"There is no government anymore, the country is no longer governed. There is actually no President <...> That's why he clings to Ukraine, to [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, for Palestine, to show that he still exists. It's all pathetic," Lelouch said on Europe 1.
According to him, the French leader "needs to be the center of attention," but he no longer has the necessary power for this.
Earlier, in an interview with Izvestia, the grandson of the first president of France, Charles de Gaulle, Pierre de Gaulle, said that Macron's resignation could put an end to the political crisis in France.
