Modi called dependence on other countries India's main enemy
India's main enemy today is dependence on other countries. This was announced on September 20 by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Narendra Modi, speaking in the state of Gujarat.
"India has no serious enemies in the world. India's only enemy is dependence on other countries. We need to overcome this addiction. We must understand that the more we depend on others, the higher the probability of failure," the NDTV channel quotes the politician as saying.
He stressed that India, as the country with the largest population in the world, should produce everything by itself, from chips to ships. In order for the state to be prosperous and stable, it must be self-sufficient, Modi pointed out.
The head of government recalled that about 50 years ago, 40% of the country's trade was conducted with the involvement of Indian ships, now this figure has dropped to 5%. Thus, India pays huge sums to foreign companies every year to ship its goods all over the world.
Earlier, on September 17, Russian Leader Vladimir Putin noted that under Modi's leadership, the Indian state pursues an independent and sovereign policy. According to the President of the Russian Federation, India demonstrates the highest rates of economic growth among the developed economies of the planet.
