The first stage of landscaping of the park and the Olympic bike trail on the Krylatsky Hills has been completed in Moscow. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
According to the mayor, the area "has been in decline for a long time, and after returning to the city, it finds a new life." "The work began last year, and we have already managed to do a lot," Sobyanin wrote on his Twitter feed. — We carried out a complete reconstruction of the small and large bicycle towers — a total of 88.7 thousand square meters of pavement were replaced, which is comparable to 12 football fields."
In addition, the relief of the track built for the Olympics-80 was restored, the bike rings of which have steep bends and height differences. The specialists used archival documents in their work.
The track was also equipped with a modern timing system, warning systems and video surveillance were created. "In total, the builders have laid over 13 thousand linear meters of outdoor lighting cables and electrical networks," the mayor noted.
In addition, a full-fledged recreation area with floorboards and paths made of granite screening for walking, children's and sports grounds appeared on the territory of the Krylatsky Hills.
In early September, Sobyanin announced the completion of a comprehensive reconstruction of the Metallurg stadium. The facility, located on Semenovskaya Embankment, has become a modern sports cluster. The mayor recalled that "on the instructions of the President of Russia and with the active support of the Chairman of the government, the abandoned territory of the stadium was transferred to Bauman University," and now the renovated Metallurg has become a good gift to the university by the beginning of the academic year. Sobyanin expressed confidence that the sports cluster will once again become a point of attraction for students, residents of the district and all sports enthusiasts.
